Create a LMS-Integrated Spark Course

Create your Spark course from your LMS course to connect the two courses.

You will be able to click a link in your LMS course that:

  • opens your integrated Spark course
  • signs you in to Spark

Your students will be able to click a link in your LMS course that:

  • opens your integrated Spark course
  • signs them in to Spark
  • enrolls them in your Spark course

Before you begin:

  • Create your LMS course.
  • Get the following information from your LMS administrator:

    • The consumer key for your school.
    • The shared secret for your school.
    • The product ISBN for your course.
  • The following steps assume your administator has configured Spark content tools.
  1. Sign in to LMS and go to your course.

  2. Go to a content area in your course.

  3. Add a course link.

    1. Click + Create.

    2. Click Teaching tools with LTI connection.

    1. Click Build Content Web Link.

  4. Configure the course link.

  5. Save your changes.

    Blackboard Ultra

    1. Click Save.

    1. Click Submit.

  6. In Brightspace, navigate to the Content page.

  7. Click Add a module....

    1. Create a name for your module.

      We recommend using a name that easily identifies the program and level.

      Example: World Link 1

  8. Click Add Existing Activities.

    1. Select External Learning Tools from the dropdown menu.

  9. Click the LTI link that was created.

  10. Click Bulk Edit.

  11. Select Open as External Resources.

    1. Click Done Editing.

  12. Click Settings.

  13. Open the Apps tab and click View App Configurations.

  14. Click +App.

  15. Enter the following information.

  16. Click Submit.

  17. Navigate back to Home.

  18. Click + Module.

    1. Create a name for the module, using the title of the program and level.

  19. Click Add Module.

  20. Click Add Item and specify the item details.

    1. Select External Tool from the dropdown menu.

    2. Select the tool you just created.

    3. Select Load in a new tab.

    4. Click Add Item.

  21. To make the link available to your students, click Publish for both the tool and the module you created.

    The icon is now Published.

  22. In Moodle, navigate to your course.

  23. Click Turn editing on.

  24. Click + Add an activity or resource.

  25. Select External Tool.

  26. Enter the following information:

    Select the program and level that matches your course.

  27. Click Save and return to course.

  28. Navigate to your course.

  29. Click Add Materials Add File/Link/External Tool.

  30. Click External Tool.

  31. Enter the following information.

  32. Click Submit.

  33. Click the course link you just created.

    Accept the notifications about cookies, terms of use, and privacy policy.

    1. If the Cookie Files prompt displays, click Got it.

    2. Read the linked Terms of use and select the checkbox.

    3. Read the linked Privacy Policy and select the checkbox.

    4. Click Update.

Your new Spark course is created.
