Administration Settings
If you are a designated SAM supervisor or administrator, the Administration Settings option is available on the Admin tab of the SAM Navigation bar.

Editing Keyboarding Preferences
Instructors edit Keyboarding Preferences such as accuracy percentage and backspace in the Sections tab using the following procedure. The default settings enabled depend on the Keyboarding exercise.

Project Report Descriptions
The following table provides a brief description and list of fields for available Project Reports. Some reports enable you to select the student identifier to display.
Access Badges Outside of SAM
You can maintain access to the badges you earn in your SAM course after the course ends.
Accessibility of Tasks
Tasks that are not accessible in Microsoft Office are not accessible in SAM. Students using screen readers are notified if a task cannot be completed using their assistive technology. You can remove inaccessible tasks for affected students in their version of the assignment.
Account Types in Keyboarding in SAM
Each Keyboarding in SAM account has a role—Supervisor, Administrator, Instructor, or Student—that restricts access only to the actions needed for the role. Section creators and owners can perform additional actions for their sections.
Activity Calendar
The Activity Calendar displays your assigned activities on a monthly calendar.
Activity list
The Activity List displays all keyboarding activities for the selected section. The Activity List displays assignment name, type, availability, due date, section and status. Expand the lesson under the Assignment Name column to view all the assignments available for a lesson.
Activity List
The Activity List displays a list of all of your assigned activities. Completed assignments with no more attempts available are not shown.

You can add custom assignments to both SAM Assignment Types and custom Assignment Types using the following procedure.
Adding a Product
If this is the case, your assignments display as inactive until you add the necessary product using the following procedure: Your institution may have a grace period where you can access SAM temporarily without entering a key code. After the grace period expires, you cannot take assignments, access scores or reports until you enter a key code. Click Add Product . The Add Product window displays. Enter the product's 18-digit key code. If you need to purchase a key code, go to customer support....
Adding Custom Assignment Types
Add a custom Assignment Type to the Gradebook using the following procedure. Instructors manage Custom Assignment types differently if the Gradebook displays in Percentages or Points.

Click ⋯ › Settings . Click Cookies and Site Permissions . Click Manage and delete cookies and site data . Turn on Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended) .
Allow Cookies in Safari
You can't allow cookies only for specific sites. Click Safari › Settings . Click the Advanced tab. Clear Block all cookies . Click the Privacy tab. Clear Prevent cross-site tracking .
Allow JavaScript in Chrome
Go to chrome://settings/content/javascript. Select Sites can use JavaScript .
Allow JavaScript in Microsoft Edge
In Microsoft Edge, JavaScript is always enabled and you cannot disable it.
Allow JavaScript in Safari
Click Safari › Settings . Click the Security tab. Select Enable JavaScript .

Change Monitor Resolution
To use the SAM Content Player most effectively, set your monitor to a display resolution of 1366x768 or higher. This setting enables SAM simulations to display without scrolling.

Complete a Project
To complete and submit a project assignment in Keyboarding in SAM, download a start file, follow the project instructions and save your work, upload your files to Keyboarding in SAM, and submit your work.

If your instructor has selected a Cengage eBook for your section, the instructor can assign readings from that book. If you have purchased that eBook through Cengage, you can read that book online from within SAM using the following procedure:
